The Infernal Devices: The Clockwork Angel

Hello! I know it's been forever but fear not! I have two books to review today. The first is a prequel to the amazing MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series. The series is called THE INFERNAL DEVICES and the book CLOCKWORK ANGEL.

CLOCKWORK ANGEL is in the 1800's Victorian era in London. Tess (short for Theresa) is a 16 year old American coming to London to meet her brother, Nathanial to live with as their Aunt died. She meets two sisters who claim her brother sent them to retrieve her and the story continues from there with her meeting Shadowhunters and being introduced into the Shadow world.

Do not expect everything to be similar to the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. If you do, you will be disappointed and be waiting for things that do not happen. This book can stand on it's own and does NOT need to be read after the MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. Is it helpful, yes, but not mandatory. The book has a different edge to it and centers around machines called automatons that are not included in the first series. This story does not pull you right into it...but you can't walk away. You develop a love for the characters as you do for Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett.

Cassandra Clare certainly does not let the reader down in this first installation of the new series. If fact quite the opposite, she will leave them begging for more.
